#348 Changing PowerPoint Shapes

If you’ve ever had to change a shape after you’ve already spent time working on getting it just right by applying just the right formatting and adding special effects like animation, etc . this week’s tip is for you.

Instead of deleting the original shape and repeating all those steps all you need to do is simply change the shape.  This trick allows you to keep all the effects and formatting that you’ve already created.

How to Change a Shape

1. Select the shape that you want to change.

You can select multiple shapes by pressing  and holding the  CTRL key while you click the shapes.

2.  Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Insert Shapes group, click the Edit Shape button  Button image .

If you don’t see the Drawing Tools or Format tabs, make sure that you selected a shape.

3. Point to Change Shape, and then select  the shape that you want.

And this trick works  in any of the Office applications.
